Question by Scott: What is the best approach to learning web design & Web development? And which languages to learn first?
My small term goal = To be able to make nice looking websites & wordpress themes with xhtml, css, and php.

Long term goal = To learn web programming languages so I can build things like facebook apps, iphone apps, adobe air apps etc.

I’ve watched some video lectures and I’m also reading an HTML, CSS book (which is confusing). For those of you who learned on your own, how did you go about doing it? Whats the best way to practice?

and how long do you reckon it will take me to reach an intermediate level? I have 4 – 6 hours a day to learn right now.

Your words are excellent man.
For sure not taking too long for studying it there,
but for practice it, YES you need it.

My suggestion for you is, starting from HTML, into some Web-Application, Php, MySQL, and do the PRACTICAL…

Because some tutorials provide the exact “to-do” and get the “output”,
from that one you’ll learn much better.
